David Moyes, sacked as manager of Manchester United

Well, i'm going to clarify this from the offset...I'm a massive United fan. I have been supporting United for a very long time, since I was a kid. No, i'm not a glory hunting United fan. I know it's history and successful pastures. However, for all the years I have been a United fan it has been easy. I have been accustomed to winning for such a long time, due to the shear dominance and brilliance of Sir Alex Ferguson, that seeing what has unraveled this season has really been the first time I have felt genuine despair and shock at what happened. To be quite honest with you, as a fan and I'm pretty sure that goes for the majority of fans, we weren't expecting anything amazing, but also not this bad. No matter what people say, the pundits and writers claiming we should have done well...that is utter rubbish. Let's be honest, Moyes inherited quite a bad United team. Yes they were champions last year, but that hid the underlying problems within the squad. In most areas within the squad there are needs for a major re-vamp. We need a massive overhaul to freshen this team up. The fact of the matter is, Fergie worked miracles...he was a tactical genius, tinkerer, charismatic, savvy, admired and most decorated manager in sport. These factors alone inspired the players as they looked up to him. Once that quality and spark left the dressing room, with his backroom staff, it was destined to fail. I think as a consensus, top four finish would have been good. For the great Manchester United Football Club to miss out on European football all together, has been really the most disappointing thing and ultimately ended David's reign as a manager. Hopefully, Manchester United do their utmost to sign the brilliant Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp. What he has done with the Dortmund squad, with a poor budget and players being poached by Bayern Munchen, has been inspiring. His presence, charisma and love for the game surely would rub off onto the players. He seems the perfect fit for United compared to the other potential suitors. However, Louis Van Gaal would not be too shabby. His experience around Europe and big time leagues could make him also a perfect candidate. At the end of the day, he has won 4 European trophies...very big experience, which is ultimately vital. Whoever we get will have a big task to turn it around in the next season coming and bring United back to contention in competitions. This means whoever comes into the job will have to know what their doing, spend the big £200,000,000 transfer budget wisely, and importantly inspire the players...make them buy into the club and its direction. Ed Woodward and his staff, along with the new managerial arrival, will have their work cut out. Personally, I hope they deliver.
